The chickens weren't too sure about all this white stuff. They refused to move out from their patch of dirt. This is the first significant accumulation (don't laugh, Northerners!) we've had this season. It's at about 1/2 inch and still coming down. Perfect for holing up indoors by the wood stove, creating recipes, drinking hot beverages, and welcoming in the next president!

Ah-the beauty of snow
The pond at the bottom of the knoll where my house is is frozen over and know covered with snow . it is breath taking.

this may sound like a silly question (and of course it is), but do chickens feel cold in weather like this? i am having totally irrational ideas about chickens donning hand-knit sweaters.
i thank you, nicole, and my chickens thank you, for your concern. aside from being a bit timid about snow touching their claws for the first time, chickens are quite adept at cold weather. people even keep them in canada, sans hand-knit sweaters! that's because their body temperature is higher than that of humans. plus, they're covered in feathers, which they fluff out when it is cold to create an extra barrier of warmth.
Beautiful pictures! I love the snow. So peaceful when you can walk outside and hear the 'crunch' under your feet.
No snow here, but I love looking at it. The "laddies" look great!
