Purple Mountain Majesties





The Lavender Festival did not disappoint. We enjoyed fair weather, delicious food (now that I'm eating poultry, I sampled the lavender & citrus chicken salad sandwich. Holy wow!), and the company of fine friends. Only 364 more days until purple, fragrant bliss can be ours again (this time, with Nugget in tow!).

  3. what a lovely festival. I planted lavender for the first time this year and have loved steeping its delicate buds. I'm curious to know how you use the leaves?

  4. hi alexis! by "leaves", do you mean the actual leaves, or are you asking how i use the buds? i don't use the leaves at all, if that's your question. as to the buds, though, i steep and incorporate them into all manner of things, including ice cream, truffles, lemonade, and preserves, such as peach butter. i also use lavender buds in homemade bath salts and scrubs. you could mix the buds with coarse sea salt and smokey tea for a nice fish rub or steep the buds in lavender for a floral vinegar. the uses are seemingly endless, no?
