Happy Friday, all! My "Small Measures with Ashley" post is up over at Design Sponge. Today I'm chatting about my love of indoor clothes drying racks. Save a bundle, on energy costs and carbon emissions, with these beauties!So, we've been cloistered in again most of the week, owing to the snow. Hubs has ventured out twice for provisions and such, but, otherwise, we've just hunkered down, sipping on hot beverages, writing, cooking, and staying cozy. I'm hoping to make it to a dear friend's house tonight for her birthday dinner (she's having it catered from this place, which is so. very. good.). We'll have to see if the snow and ice on our mile-long dirt road will comply. Don't want to be slipping and sliding up the driveway with a 10 1/2-pound baby just to eat some naan, you know?

i love them but find i'm going to need a dehumidifier in my basement as most things take days and days and days to dry down there. can't wait til summer to put the outdoor one back out :)
I have a small one that's a wee bit wobbly. What I really covet is a huge, sturdy, locally made one that I ran across at a mennonite furniture store a few miles from here. I'm thinking that might be a splurge (are drying racks a splurge? an investment, maybe?) for this spring or summer.

We use metal rods that are hung just below the ceiling on two sides of the bathroom/laundry room. I used to use the racks but just found them too wobbly and in the way. Either way, it does save a ton!
I hadn't thought of the benefit of the extra humidity added to the air! We have ours (a rickety cheapie that I already regret) in the basement...
Oh my gosh this photo could have been taken in my home. Different wood stove, different clothe drying rack, but the same. How comforting.
Love it! I think we have the same drying rack. Is it made of bamboo? Any ways, I'm a big fan... not only for the green factor but because dryers can ruin cute clothes. LOL! Like you, we also use for Griffin's diapers. Hope you are well!
I have a set of nice, sturdy drying racks and use them often. In the summer they go on my covered porch, in the winter I set one in the bath tub or where ever they will be out of the way.
I guess I need to use my indoor racks more. I can only hang clothes outside for a few of months a year...price of living in high altitude, cold north. I should hang more than I do. Wish I had a wood stove like that though to make it more charming!
That's brilliant. I've had an indoor clothesline strung up behind my dining room table since it got too cold to hang laundry outside. I don't know why I never thought of a rack. Thank you!
