Here's some images of the Purple Martin house that Hubs recently built. Pretty spiffy, eh? He parked it atop the spot on our white birch tree where a branch snapped off during our '09 December Snowpocalypse. I'm diggin' it. We'll see if the Purple Martin's dig it, too!

Where did Hubs find the plans for these? I just pointed them out to my own Hubs and he'd like to make them.
jane-he made them up himself. he's just that sort of guy! he's got a good amount of woodworking notches in his belt, which is great, because i have none!
Great that you want to help purple martins but they will never nest that close to a tree. They will only nest out in the open at least 30 or so feet away from a tree.
Playing dawnsong (recorded martins singing) will let them know the house is there.
