Orange & Vanilla Marmalade

Hi everyone! My "Small Measures with Ashley" post is up over on Design Sponge. This week I provided my recipe for Orange & Vanilla Marmalade. It's some seriously good stuff and is a fabulous means of using up all of the heavenly winter citrus fruits in season right now. What you might not be able to see in the photo above are all the flecks of real vanilla bean peppered throughout the marmalade. Those tiny beans take this topping from "tasty" to "sublime" in an instant. I'd highly recommend incorporating it into your breakfast, brunch, snacks, or night-time nibbles this weekend.

Fly & Dexter (our German Shepherd and Black Lab) head to the vet for their annual check-ups tomorrow. I'm hoping to make some progress on my newest book over the weekend, while eagerly awaiting the official publication of my third ("Home Dairy") and fourth ("Keeping Bees") this coming Tuesday. Oh, and for those of you with SiriusXM satellite radio, I'll be on Everyday Food on Martha Stewart Radio that afternoon (more details to come, soon as I get them!).

So, lots of tea-sipping, recipe testing, baby cuddling, dog-petting, husband-appreciating and more to happen around chez English this weekend. Wherever you are, whatever you end up doing, here's wishing you and yours a fabulous weekend!

What an amazing sounding combination. And very cool wooden butter knife. Where did you get these beautiful utensils?

hi denise!

well, that's a good question! the book i'm currently working on isn't part of my "homemade living" series of books. it's food-related, though (more details to come...). as for more in the HL series, that remains to be seen. we're waiting to gauge the reaction to the two new ones (that officially publish tuesday) before making decisions on future titles (of which i have many, many, many waiting in the wings).

the manuscript i'm currently working on is due august 1st, then we'll work on photography, etc.. that book will be in print fall 2012. any future HL titles would come sometime after that.

thanks for inquiring. and so glad to hear you have the entire series. that's so fantastic. i truly appreciate the support.

Ohhhhh, the Orange & Vanilla Marmalade sounds heavenly! Hope the pups' checkup went well. And I hope you are having a wonderful weekend. Our weather is warming.... not much longer until our honey bees arrive :) I'm even starting some pepper seeds in the greenhouse tomorrow. We've warmed up a bit early this year. Thank heavens!

hi ashley! i just wanted to pop over from d*s and say thanks for your feedback about canning vs. freezing the marmalade. i might need to look into some canning equipment (hee! i did, just this week, order myself my own damn kitchenaid mixer after getting some money back from taxes and i feel like i'm officially over the edge domestically. so canning equip. no longer seems like much of a stretch!). blah blah blah.
