Here's some images of the Purple Martin house that Hubs recently built. Pretty spiffy, eh? He parked it atop the spot on our white birch tree where a branch snapped off during our '09 December Snowpocalypse.
I'm diggin' it. We'll see if the Purple Martin's dig it, too!

Your property is so gorgeous!
Pat the hubs on the back for me! We haven't built a martin house yet, but our bluebird house is occupied :)
Beautiful!
Wow, great house! Your hubs did a fantastic job!
looks awesome!!
Where did Hubs find the plans for these? I just pointed them out to my own Hubs and he'd like to make them.
jane-he made them up himself. he's just that sort of guy! he's got a good amount of woodworking notches in his belt, which is great, because i have none!
Great that you want to help purple martins but they will never nest that close to a tree. They will only nest out in the open at least 30 or so feet away from a tree.
Playing dawnsong (recorded martins singing) will let them know the house is there.
