You never know who, or what, you'll find creeping, crawling, slithering, sliding, pouncing, prancing (mostly just Dexter), hopping, buzzing, or otherwise maneuvering around the English grounds. We found this prehistoric looking fella Monday evening. We're quite certain it's a snapping turtle, but it sure does look like an alligator-dinosaur hybrid to me!

I saw my first "wild" turtles over the weekend hanging out in a bog near the beach. They're so cool!
snapping turtles can take a finger off. please relocate it before Nugget is rambling age.
Woah! Being a city girl, my idea of wildlife is raccoons, crows, pigeons and skunks. This guy is crazy looking!
That is a snapping turtle. If you have a pond near by, they will kill the fish in it. They migrate during the year to different bodies of water. Ponds, creeks, etc. They are looking for mates. AAAhhh love. lol
I don't think I've ever seen a wild turtle, but I'm holding out hope (love turtles!)

Ahhh...snapping turtles. I made the mistake of being a good citizen ONCE...we lived in Florida and this poor sad turtle was getting ready to cross the ROAD! I couldn't let that happen...it was a super HOT day and cars come around the corner pretty quick so I thought surely this thing was going to get crushed or burned up! So I had my hubby stop the car and I lifted the turtle up to take him back to his pond when he hissed at me and reached around to take a bite! I realized then that this thing was a snapping turtle with a pretty good reach! I freaked out, dropped the turtle (didn't hurt him...don't worry) and screamed! From that point on that turtle was on its own! :-)
